These awards were supposed to have been given out during the national training weekend at Lambrook School on the last weekend in March and sadly of course, we lost that and subsequent events planned for the two May bank holiday weekends too.

However, the squad have been keeping in touch via whatsapp and zoom, through which fitness programmes and quizzes have been organised, as well as the everyday chat to keep spirits up and we all hope to be back on the pitch before too long.

We therefore had a zoom awards evening on April 27th at which the following were announced.

SQUAD MEMBER OF THE YEAR
Nominations: Becky King, Kathryn Jelfs-White, Lucy Mabey and Georgie Ridgway with the winner being Min Ainsworth from Surrey VICC for her continuous hard work both on and off the pitch, particularly her fundraising efforts.

COACHES PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Nominations: Susannah Barnett, Kathryn Jelfs-White amd Sharnie Mabey with Helen Lawson from the Yorkshire Vikings taking this one, for her commitment & effort at both training and on match days throughout the year.

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER
Nominations: Linda Boulding, Alison Heasman, Becky King, Jess Lowe and Theresa Robberts, the winner was Sharnie Mabey of Somerset VICC, who worked hard on her skill levels and showed great determination in 2019.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR
This category was hotly contested but the main votes went as follows,
Nominations: Min Ainsworth and Sharnie Mabey with the 2019 winner being Kathryn Jelfs-White from Somerset VICC, for her performances on the pitch and all round presence within the squad.

Well done to all trophy winners and to everyone involved with the programme, both on and off the field, you should all be very proud of what you have achieved so far and are building for the future.
