The Johnners Trust

Hall of Fame Number: 016
Inducted: September 2025 at the BCEW David Townley Memorial Twenty20 Cup Finals Day
Inducted as: Supporter of VI Cricket

The Johnners Trust, formerly the Brian Johnston Memorial Trust, was set up in memory of legendary cricket commentator Brian Johnston, who was a big supporter of blind cricket.

The Trust have done a lot to support VI cricket over more than three decades, this includes from 2009 until 2024 funding the annual BCEW Johnners Trust Development Festival, one of the highlights of the year for a lot of players & clubs as well as a first experience of blind cricket for many.

The trust have also funded women’s international ball development between 2015 & 2024, without that support the UK Women’s VI Cricket Team could not have taken part in the 2023 World Blind Games or travelled to Barbados to play a series against West Indies VI Women in 2018.

The Johnners Trust closed down at the end of September 2025 and we are very grateful for all of their support. It was a privilege to be able to present their Hall of Fame Award to Barry Johnston, son of the legendary Brian Johnston for whom the trust was named.
