Profile

The Derbyshire Owls were formed in the summer of 2010. The club seeks to ensure that players have a smile on their face both on and off the field. With only a handful of players who started, it’s been a long journey but they’ve got a competitive team on the field. A special mention must be given to Andy Lewis because without his dedication there would be no cricket club without him.

The team has a hugely diverse age range including both male and female players. When new players join, they are made to feel welcome and with emphasis on having fun. The club is very inclusive with decisions made on and off the field as collective ones, it doesn’t matter if you were a player from the start or recently joined your opinion matters.

The Owls currently play in BCEW’s Midland Regional League. Although only entering the league in 2015 they have been very competitive but also acquitted themselves well at the BCEW Johnners Trust Development festival. The club continues to be based at Alvaston and Boulton cricket club for most home games as well as for training sessions during the summer.
