Profile

Northants Steelbacks VICC were founded by John Wood & Anne Bentley from Northamptonshire Association for the Blind. The club then known as Northants VI.XI.NS played friendly matches before starting in competitive cricket in 2005, the club changed to its current name at the end of the 2008 season.

The main ethos of the club is to enjoy their cricket but they have also become successful in recent seasons having won all three of blind cricket’s major competitions between 2019 & 2021. The club have to date had three England internationals, Dave Gavrilovic, Mark Turnham & Asif Ali whilst several Northants players have won National Player of the Year awards.

The club welcome male or female players of any age, working with Northamptonshire Cricket Board Northants aim to offer fortnightly outdoor training throughout the summer and monthly indoor training between January and April.
