The England Men’s VI Cricket Team Open Trial held over the weekend of 22nd & 23rd October 2022 has been declared a big success by all involved.
The 41 participants were split into three groups, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon & Sunday morning, so that numbers were manageable. The sessions took place at the Edgbaston indoor cricket centre & were overseen by coaches John Cook & Jason Wood, whilst the current England squad got involved in helping to encourage & pass on playing tips to the trialists.
Part of the reason the trial weekend was seen as such a success was that it set a new UK record for the most players involved in an international ball event in this country, passing fifty for the first time when including the trialists & the England squad.
