On Sunday 7th September at Durham CCC’s Riverside Stadium BCEW Umpires Coordinator Neil Robson received the Creating Inclusive and Safe Environments award at the Durham Cricket Foundation Community Awards.
Neil has been a member of BCEW’s umpires panel for almost a decade, he regularly umpires games in Durham and Yorkshire as well as umpiring or match managing at BCEW Twenty20 Finals Day each year. Since 2019 Neil along with Darshak Patel was one of BCEW’s umpires coordinators, a role Neil has held alone since Darshak stepped down during summer 2024.

Neil was nominated for the award by Durham VICC in recognition of all of the support he provides to them as well as to VI cricket as a whole.
Durham VICC Captain Dominic James commented on Neil’s award:
“Neil thoroughly deserves this award, he plays a huge factor in why not only Durham but so many VI teams across the country can play the sport we love, Cricket.
“His enthusiasm and dedication to helping others and pushing the game forward does not go unnoticed.
“From appointing umpires, umpiring plus scoring to ensuring the field of play is fit for purpose. Neil dedicates a lot of time and effort to ensuring games of VI cricket are possible and Durham as well as other teams across the country would like to congratulate Neil on this well deserved award.”
