Sadly despite an enormous amount of hard work from the management of the UK Women’s Team, the players themselves and the BCEW committee it will not be possible to send a team to the first Blind Cricket Women’s Twenty20 World Cup in India.
There have been many challenges in trying to get a team to the tournament, some we have managed to overcome, such as securing sufficient funding – partly thanks to one very generous donor, but sadly some have proved too big an obstacle. There are issues over visas that we are unable to resolve in time for the tournament and there have also been significant health challenges amongst the players and management.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed towards the efforts to get the team to the tournament, whether by providing financial support or giving their time to help.
We would also like to thank the tournament organisers for their support, they showed extraordinary patience as we attempted to get everything in place, we are very grateful to them as well as being very sorry that we will not be able to be a part of this historic event.
